Florida Southern College
Mark Haver is a sophomore at Florida Southern College. He is majoring in Environmental Studies, Marine Biology, and Political Science with a minor in Communications. He originates from Ellicott City, Maryland. Things he is involved in on campus include Student Government, biological, marine biological, and leadership honors societies, a marine conservancy organization, astronomy club, College Democrats and Republicans, a record label, an improv troupe, and Relay for Life. His passion for conservation stems from a deep rooted belief that every plant and animal has a right to exist on this planet and should be treasured. This summer he interned at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration where he worked as a Marine Mammals and Sea Turtles Communications Specialist. In May, he traveled to South Africa, where he researched how elephants impact vegetative ecology and became SCUBA certified. He is very excited to go to the European Union sponsored Our Ocean in Malta in October 2017. Above all, he is more than glad to be part of the ever growing SOA chapter base and looks forward to influencing our next generation of leaders to care about the environment.
