We Are The Oceans (WATO) Presents
The Big Catch
At the Third Annual Sustainable Oceans Summit on April 22, 2017, We Are The Oceans (WATO) proudly launched the first in a series of initiatives designed to educate and inspire behavior change around the use of plastics, highlighting the hugely damaging impact they have on our oceans.
The launch of The Big Catch features a rare and endangered Vaquita porpoise, one of the most endangered marine mammals today with estimated numbers at below 30. In The Big Catch the Vaquita travels through several highly polluted real world ocean locations, cleaning them of harmful plastics and getting to the source of the problem whilst educating players along the journey.
With the support of UNOPS (United Nations Office for Project Services) WATO is working with Rovio Entertainment to distribute this fun and educational experience via its mobile games portfolio, targeting the most connected and socially conscientious generation on the planet and asking gamers to take the first step towards behavioral change by signing the WATO pledge; a pledge to reverse the terrifying trend that by 2050 plastic will outweigh fish in our oceans.
